Ocean Dumping Threatens World Oxygen Supply

24 hour TV surveillance urged for high crime areas
Washington urged a national test of 24 hour television surveillance to deter street crime in high crime areas. A National Academy of Engineering committee urged cities and the federal government to study a combined television acoustical system for urban housing projects and public institutions as part of a broader push to apply telecommunications to urban development. The panel notes telecommunications could improve health care education and transportation and make cities more livable, potentially reducing the need for dense urban living in the future. The NAS arm’s report stems from a 16 month study and talks with city officials. A separate item notes a water skier died after a Colorado River accident near Parker. Robert Taughby, 3, died at Loma Linda University Hospital after falling Sunday.
