Transit plans split over Senior Center location
Lillian Anakin of Senior Opportunities and Services argues for keeping the Senior Citizens Center at the Municipal Utilities Building, while Creighton favors a new facility in the Transportation Center to avoid delays and remodeling. City officials discuss a proposed 18 million dollar fixed-guideway monorail system linking downtown with Pacific Terrace Center and an aquatic park to reduce traffic. The center's location is not tied to a Long Beach mass transit station, though a knockout foundation wall on Third Street would mark a future station site.
