Governor Brown stunned as aide listed unemployed for day care
Sacramento report says Bill Stall listed as unemployed to allow his daughter to attend a publicly funded day care center at reduced rates. A federal audit found $50,000 in AFDC funds spent on two centers at Sacramento State University for 194 ineligible children, prompting a possible refund. Stall, a new Brown aide and former AP writer, said he was unaware of the listing and would reimburse if the audit is correct. Officials termed the case a clerical error and said the issue would be appealed to HEW.
