Defensive medicine drives cost up in malpractice era
Long Beach physician Dr. Don Mills warned at a Carnegie Center briefing that defensive medicine, also called superpractice, leads to longer hospital stays more tests and higher costs. He cited stricter screening panels arbitration efforts and new Califomia rescuer immunity as ways to lessen the impact, supported by Carnegie Corp funding.
