President elect Jimmy Carter hosted the son and daughter of a black bishop at Plains Baptist Church, joining two AME bishops and black congregants in the largest black attendance since integration. He recalled childhood ties to the area, noted his inauguration guests, and discussed near-term plans including ethics disclosures and an economic recovery outline. He also visited his mother in the hospital and prepared for the Capitol ceremony on January 20.
