Ex-housemate wins right to sue Lee Marvin
California Supreme Court rules an agreement between unmarried partners to share earnings and property is valid and binding though nonmarital. Michelle Marvin claimed she gave up her career for full-time home making in exchange for support and sought half of assets, including film rights worth over $1 million. The court reversed the lower ruling, allowing breach of contract and implied-agreement claims to proceed, and noted nonmarital partners may recover value of household services minus support received.
