Festivals of Lights unites Christians and Jews in Long Beach
Leisure World residents host a joint Christmas Hanukkah observance at Sea Beach Community Center, led by Dr. Haymond W. Moore and Rabbi Sidney Guthman. More than 200 seniors 60 and older share a meal funded by the Older Americans Act program, with Long Beach State University workers recording the event for widespread viewing. The festival honors a pledge by Max Dreyer to create annual interfaith holiday celebrations with support from local officials and businesses.
