Norwalk votes to double transit fare to twenty cents
The Norwalk City Council approved a 4 to 1 vote to raise the transit fare from 10 to 20 cents effective Feb 1. Costs cited include fuel tires and labor. Fare for school age children and seniors remains 10 cents, representing 54 percent of riders. Councilman White led the approval and City staff will post notices. The council also approved a 4 to 0 decision on a DOT grant request for transit operating costs for 1976-77 and discussed relocating city offices with Mayor Green seeking closer proximity to staff. Gerdis urged awaiting Zimmerman's return.
