Alaska oil line delay urged by Sierra Club
The Sierra Club called for a five year moratorium on trans Alaska pipeline construction citing potential major disasters. It faulted the Interior Department task force report for inadequate study of earthquakes, permafrost, river crossings, leaks, and glacial lake flooding while endorsing exploration of a Canadian route to reduce environmental risk. Executive Director Michael McCloskey led the briefing.
