Three Churches Halt Off Campus Classes
Three of ten churches that had allowed off campus classes ended the practice Tuesday. Pastors of Lakeside Presbyterian Temple Methodist and Temple Baptist declined to give reasons though threats of higher insurance rates and complaints of condoning violence are cited as main factors. A hard hat with a sign was shown to reporters and may be used for protection if needed. Hayakawa kept police on campus and offered 44 suspended students a chance to return pending hearings before a faculty-student disciplinary board.

Grand Jury Valley State Probe Hears Top Secret Testimony
A San Fernando Valley State College grand jury probe entered its second day with four witnesses from Northridge College testifying about the November 4 seizure of Valley State's Administration Building. The incident, tied to campus protests over alleged racism, left 34 staffers captive for four hours as BSU SDS and other groups were involved. Witness identities were withheld due to fear of reprisals, and the closed session was expected to continue into next week with no link established between an arson fire and student militants.
