Orbiter captures Copernicus close up in lunar photos
New York Times reports Lunar Orbiter 1 released two striking moon images, including a Copernicus crater close up. NASA described the shot as among the century’s great pictures, noting the vast crater 60 miles wide and 4,500 feet deep. Transmission delays and positioning affected release timing.
