California seeks Supreme Court ruling on state border
State Lands Commission will ask the U S Supreme Court to settle a 15 year old dispute with Nevada over the state line from Lake Tahoe north to the Oregon border A deputy state attorney said documents including the petition to hear the case and a formal complaint were filed in Sacramento ahead of travel to Washington The case hinges on six possible boundaries traced by 19th century surveys and a mathematical projection affecting Nevada gambling properties and about 80 square miles of land that could yield California tax revenue if the boundary is fixed in its favor The Supreme Court could decide in June to hear the case or wait for the ISU 78 session
