White House to release CIA charter documents to probe panel
Senate intelligence members will receive all documents forming the CIA secret charter. White House officials said a copy of a secret report to President Ford from CIA Director Colby was provided, alongside other requested materials. Former Defense Secretary Clark Clifford testified the CIA charter is outdated and urged a new law and stronger executive-branch oversight. He rejected claims of domestic spying or assassinations by Democratic presidents and noted his roles under Truman Kennedy and Johnson.
