Mary Ellis Carlton reports the 54 year old Omar M Hubbard Building in Long Beach was dynamited after weeks of controversy over demolishing the landmark to make way for the Museum of Art. At 1 45 p m 153 charges in the exterior foundation toppled the 1 story structure at 310 West Broadway, collapsing into a adjacent parking lot and narrowly missing City Hall.

Charcoal heater tragedy kills three children in Lynwood home
Police report three children Emmina Munoz five Anthony Munoz six and Carmella Castillo thirteen died of carbon monoxide poisoning in a bedroom after a portable charcoal barbecue was used as a heater at 3553 Palm Avenue.
