Enraged man Homer arrested after bank visit and knife attack
Homer, a transient employed at Winrich ranch south of town, attacked foreman Wm. McDonald with a knife when told his services were no longer required. McDonald sustained a four inch gash to the cheek and a deeper wound to the head. Homer fled after the assault, later being captured by Marshal Tupper and jailed after waiving examination. Sheriff Grant transported him to Dallas.

Aged Woman Martha Simpson Dies at 97 Near Airlie
Martha Simpson born November 4 1815 in Franklin County Tennessee. She moved with family from Alabama to Arkansas then Missouri before joining the Oregon Trail to settle in Airlie in 1846. She died Friday morning at her home near Airlie aged 97 with three of four children still living.
