Wann Not a Candidate for State Game Warden

W A Wann of Eugene a Mutual Life Insurance man and former Democratic candidate for state school superintendent is reported as a candidate for state game warden to be appointed by Governor Chamberlain. Wann denies the claim and says he seeks only more life insurance.

Farewell Reception for Mr and Mrs Mills at M E Church

The ladies of the M E church hosted a farewell party for Mr and Mrs J A Mills last Friday evening at B F Whiteaker's home. About forty guests attended with musical selections by Prof Kantner and A J Whiteaker. A crayon landscape was presented, and Mr Mills thanked attendees before the farewell song.

Portland Clerk Margaret Benedict Dies on Train

Mrs. Margaret Benedict aged 25 died Thursday afternoon aboard a train from Monmouth to Portland. She had typhoid fever and nervous exhaustion. She worked as a clerk for Olds Wortman and King and was a Retail Clerks Union member. The funeral will be handled by the union with services likely Sunday.

North Yamhill Welcomes New Merchant Mr Messner

W A Messner and family have moved into the J A Mills dwelling in North Yamhill. He recently bought the racket store and plans a full line of dry goods boots shoes groceries and related items. He moves a $15000 stock, employs Geo Conkey as head dry goods man, and is praised as a hustler by former neighbors while Polk Mohair interests cheer the move.
