Oregon School Law Revisions Expand State Funding Rules
The last legislature altered school funding and governance. Districts must provide at least six months of schooling yearly. County courts must levy taxes to raise at least seven dollars per school age child, with adjustments to reach two hundred dollars per district. New apportionment structures and transfer rules are described, plus creation of a county high school fund under a county high school board. Secret societies in public schools are banned and a four to five member Board of Higher Curricula will guide curricula across institutions. Exits must swing outward.
