Senator Bran degee notes American travelers show provincial crudeness in Europe. He recalls a Boston leather profiteer in a Paris restaurant who ordered white wine, but received yellow wine due to prohibition leaving him uninitiated. He exclaims to the waiter, highlighting cultural gaps.
County Assessor Fred J. Holman announces no material rise in assessed valuations for the current year after widespread protests. He says most taxpayers oppose higher valuations and pledges to act as their servant, noting state taxes depend on cash valuation and 6 percent limits protect taxpayers.
