Drowned Deckhand Bricker Falls From Ladue's Landing
Charles W. Bricker, about 28, independent of Independence, a deckhand on the steamer Lurline, drowned Wednesday night after walking off a wharf at Ladue's Landing near Portland. His body recovered at 10 o'clock the next morning and prepared for burial in Independence.

Portland Doctor Killed by City Car on Williams Avenue
Dr. Wm J McDaniel a Polk County native and long time Albina physician was run down and killed on Williams avenue by a streetcar. The accident occurred at about 6 45 Friday morning as he rode toward a sick patient scene details include conductor and motorman actions and inquest. He was born February 9 1853 graduated from State University 1880 and Jefferson Medical College 1883. He leaves a widow Julia Adams and one surviving child.

Shreve Couple Celebrates Golden Anniversary in Dallas
Mr and Mrs Asa Shreve, early Polk county pioneers who crossed the plains in 1851, marked their golden wedding last Wednesday. He was born August 27, 1825 and she September 12, 1829. They have eight children with several residing in Dallas Antelope Stayton Portland and Dallas.
