Milk delivery disrupted by wind at Independence Hotel
Fred Moseman, delivering milk at the Independence Hotel, faced a gust that slammed the rear door and alarmed his old horse. The animal bolted along the usual route, bottles bounced in the wagon box, and after a frenzied dash the horse calmed at a customer gate. Aside from a few broken bottles, no damage occurred and Moseman chose not to cry over spilled milk.

Independence men injured in runaway accident
Two Independence men suffered severe bruises when a buggy overturned soon after midnight Saturday. Mike Kreis was found unconscious by the roadside and a younger man, unnamed, was also badly hurt. Both were taken to Krebs home and later cared for by doctors. no bones were broken but internal injuries were feared, with recovery expected.

Picnic A Success At School Event In Rickerall
The community picnic drew attendees from Rickerall and nearby towns with a full day of events. Students hosted an eighth grade graduation program in the forenoon with remarks by state and county officials and performances by the High School Green Club. In the afternoon the Artisans led activities followed by speeches from officials and musical readings. County Superintendent Seymour and Monmouth President Ackerman visited Cochran school to map a modern rural model for use as an object lesson for Monmouth Normal School students.
