A former blacksmith traveled with his wife toshoe horses for farmers as there is no local shop. The Nickells and Lichtys drove to Carlton to visit relatives. Nelson Anderson and wife, with Misses Evelyn and Ruth Hendrickson, visited N. C. Anderson’s home in McMinnville then headed to Eugene. Léota Baldwin visited M. V. Prather, while Lela McCann joined for the summer. Marjorie Reynolds stayed with Blanche Harmon, as Leland Prather and Art Blair worked in a logging camp at Alsea. The Prathers and Mabel Prather returned from Belknap Springs. Portland notes Portland’s trans Pacific freight service helps Oregon industries. American Brush Co. saved freight costs by shipping directly to Portland, offsetting higher hog bristle prices in China. Half of eastern broom handles are turned in Oregon and shipped east.
