Onion smut solved by experiments at Oregon State
Oregon Agricultural College reports onion smut in the northern Willamette valley can be controlled with formaldehyde solution applied in drill rows. Trials show land treated yielded 364 sacks per acre versus 851 sacks on untreated ground, with dusting of seed offering limited benefit. Research continues to develop a practical dusting machine for soil treatment.

Polk County Judge Grants Permanent Restraining Order Against Buhler
Judge Harry H. Belt in Polk County Circuit Court orders P. H. Buhler to sell all poultry produce only to the Pacific Poultry Producers Association of Portland. Buhler signed a year-old contract to deliver to the association and allegedly breached by selling to others. The association seeks enforcement or dismissal of his business, noting penalties per egg and related terms. The ruling follows local interest tied to similar contracts in the fruit and prune industry in the area.
