Death of Lucile Dalton Ends Promising Life in Dallas
Lucile Dalton, aged 18, born September 18 1890 in Independence Oregon, died Monday morning after a long illness with tuberculosis. She moved to Dallas with her family in 1899 where her father B V Dalton served as county treasurer. Funeral services were held at the Evangelical Church with Rev H H Farnham officiating and six former classmates serving as pallbearers. Her loss is deeply mourned by her parents Maurice Dalton, and the community she brightened with a sunny disposition and notable scholarship.

Coast Artillery Unit Planned in Marshfield Oregon
Portland Adjutant General W E Finger reports from the War Department orders to organize a full company of coast artillery at Marshfield as soon as possible. The Marshfield roster must have at least 58 names and equipment will be supplied by the United States government including service rifles. About $6000 is needed to launch the new organization with heavy artillery drilled as infantry.
