L Jonee formerly of Corneline Purchases HH. Hireeberg residence and plans a new cottage. Town sees influx of settlers from the East with rising rural land values and booming building activity. Independence gains, Polk County touted as prime real estate with a building era forecast.
The Irvine home hosted the wedding of May G. Irvine to Errent N. Johnson on Sunday January 11 at 6 20 PM. Rev Bi Thompson VD of Calvary Presbyterian officiated before relatives and a few friends amid tasteful decorations.
The Enrenonise urges Polk county residents to contribute news and items for its weekly pages. The paper pledges strong county representation and invites readers to send any items of interest to ensure the Extrentor visits every home.
The wedding march was played by Miss Rose Clodhes ter cousin of the groom. The bride wore a blue albatross gown. After congratulations guests entered the dining room for a wedding supper. The bride is a well known young lady of Independence. The groom is a young man of unquestioned character and business ability. They received many beautiful and valuable presents.

Buena Vista residents attended a Woodman hall banquet celebrating the public installation of officers for the coming year. About fifty guests were present, including twenty-five visitors, with Circle ladies hosting a festive evening and a roll call listing 53 officers in good standing. Supplies for flower making were mentioned from Wagoner’s.
A Dallas to Salem report says E. C. Kirkpatrick and wife left for Los Angeles. A boy and a girl burglarized the Kirkpatrick home during their absence. Cleveland Sears, 17, and Miss Genevieve Plank were arrested. They were fined 25 each and jailed awaiting trial. trial set for Friday January Wh.
The South Bend Pilot reports on January 2 that James R. Simonton of Dallas and Edina Viola Alexander of Independence were married at their home with Rev Seely officiating at 8 P.M. Pearl Uglow was bridesmaid and J. C. Uglow best man. A wedding supper followed and a flashlight photo was taken. Guests included Warren Cressy and J. E. Stout families, among others.
Mr and Mrs Fred Larkin and Miss Pearl Uglow welcome a bride new to the community while J C Ugrow is noted for his steady character. A two year old child of Mr and Mrs R Waterhouse, formerly of Monmouth, burned to death in Albany last week when clothing caught fire from a stove. Mr Waterhouse works for the S P Company.
The death of Congressman Tongue, known personally to many voters, ends his push for a $30,000 revetment appropriation north of the town. News reached near noon Sunday with reports of his Washington City passing. A special election will follow the vacancy, as a delegation of fellow legislators accompanies his body toward Hillsboro.
Mrs C C Vanderpool wife of D H Vanderpool deceased died at her Benton county home north of Albany January 9 from paralysis. She was 74 years 4 months 27 days born in Richmond Missouri crossed plains in 1852, lived in Clackamas Polk until Beviton near Wellsdale, Baptist member since 1867. Survived by two sons Avert and David a daughter Mrs J Neal of Scio and granddaughter Mrs F A Douty of Independence. Also notes a free language lessons exhibit at the Little Palace Hotel by the International Correspondence Schools.
