Work Begins On Rock Hauling For Independence Revetment
Capt. Ogden reports rock hauling to start today for the river revetment north of Independence. A large spring operation will erect the structure with thousands of dollars spent, boosting Independence’s activity and employment. Rock is quarried at James Prather quarry. Spaulding Bros boat loads rock, workers paid two dollars daily.

Death of John Wolverton Noted in Ester Pass
Obituary review for John Wolverton born December 4, 1822 near Mount Pleasant Ohio. He lived in Illinois and Missouri before moving to Oregon in 1853 settling in Polk County near Monmouth.
