New Car for Independence Railroad to Install Motor Car

Independence and Monmouth Railroad to run a motor car between Independence Salem and West Salem. A turntable must be built in Independence to start service by March. The motor car is a duplicate of the one on the Salem Falls City and Western line. An afternoon train will run with connections to the Southern Pacific.

Family reunion caps four-week Washington visit

R. H. Knox and family returned home after four weeks in Spohime Washington. Knox met his sister from Minnesota at his brother’s home marking a first family reunion in over twenty years. Miss Evgenia McInturff of Salem visited with her brother H. F. McInturff during the past week.

Officers Re-Elected At Independence Driving Club Meeting

At a meeting last week the Independence Driving Pores Association re elected its officers. Mr Wilson was named to promote the horse show tied to the June races. Aiming to display fast horses over the three day meet, the committee plans a strong program and entry of top animals.

Mrs Cox Dies After Brief Illness Funeral Held in Baptist Church

Mrs Cox died last Saturday after a brief illness and was buried Monday in the I O O F cemetery. The funeral was at the Baptist church yesterday afternoon. She lived in the area for years and was highly regarded. Lille Mulheman, born in Schem Oregon September 1 1958, came to Independence with her parents and has lived near the city. She married C E Cox July 9 1908. Mrs Cox is survived by her husband and a six month old son along with her parents and family.
