Old Pioneer Dies in Timber Accident Near Buena Vista
Reuben P. Hall, an elder Buena Vista resident and early settler, was killed instantly in a timber-falling accident east of the city. He was struck by a snag as a tree fell. a witness, Mr. Harrington, stood nearby. The funeral was held at the Methodist church with burial in Buena Vista Cemetery. Survived by his wife, two daughters, and a son, Hall was born in 1847 aboard a wagon train in Illinois and belonged to the Oregon pioneer generation that endured hardship during the Rogue River War era.
