Rural School Week Planned by Oregon Normal School

The Oregon Normal School designates Rural School Week in Polk Benton Marion Yamhill and Washington counties to send 126 rural students to 12 one room schools for supervised lab oratory work. County superintendents assign two students per school to observe not replace teachers with a plan focusing on field reports and later discussions.

Students May Come to Independence Shopping Privilege

Oregon Normal School students may shop in Independence on Saturdays without special permission. The Oregon legislature approved 161000 for three state higher education institutions with 31000 to Monmouth Normal School to enlarge the assembly hall gymnasium and fund teaching in Independence Public Schools, costing about 6000 and 25000 respectively. Hop Growers Urged Oregon Acreage Reduction

Esteemed Lady Passes

The death of Mrs. Dry Flake occurred at her home on Sunday February 1 after a period of poor health and a recent operation at the Willamette Sanitarium Salem. Survived by Ely Fluke husband Marion and Jack two children, parents, three brothers and two sisters. Funeral at Presbyterian church in Walla Walla with Rev Stephens and Dr Dunemore officiating. Body sent for interment in Walla Walla.
