Death summons aged resident Lucious Rice of Independence
Lucious Rice died February 5 at the family home after a months long illness. Born 1838 in Ingram county Michigan, he was among Oregon’s early settlers and held various business roles. He married Irene Martha Finnicum in 1873. The funeral was held at the Methodist church with Rev. Clemo officiating, burial in Odd Fellows cemetery, and attendees including Mrs. F. B. Saunders and her son from The Dalles/OC. Pallbearers included C. A. Mc Laughlin and B. B. Smith.
