Revival in Independence Ends With Joyful Farewell Sermon

A Polk county revival in Independence culminated last Sunday with Rev Geo W Taylor’s farewell sermon Too Late. The union meetings began four weeks earlier in the Christian church with Evangelist Frank McCarty and wife. Over 300 converts, funds raised for the preachers, and a notable program of sermons and a Pink Rose life story marked the event.

High Schools Hold Debates in Polk County Debating League

Independence loses to Ballston on negative and beats Perrydale on affirmative in the first Polk County High School Debating League meet. Standings: Falls City 8, Ballston 7, Independence 6, Dallas 4, Perrydale 0, Monmouth 0. Next debate set for March 4 on immigration restriction.
