Council's Last Session Ends With Resignation Offer
The city council met for its final session before the new council. W. T. Hoffman offered his resignation but remained for adjournment to audit books. Four members attended along with Hoffman, Hubbard, Bohannon, Mix, and Hanna as bills were approved and a general city tax levy set. An adjourned meeting followed to review the financial report for the fiscal year.

Fire alarm at 2 a.m. drew few onlookers as Jesse Whiteaker’s shop burned to the ground. Ed Wallace and local volunteers battled the blaze with hose carts and chemicals, sparing the adjacent hotel by a narrow margin.
