A million pounds of hops stored in Independence and other ware houses were shipped to New York for export to Ireland after a price and embargo dispute. Bishop Bros. arranged the transfer for Guineas of Dublin, amid Dublin’s push to admit American hops for lower prices and better quality. A. C. Bishop supervised the Independence move as 1922 crop stock remained in hop houses awaiting action.

Stolen bicycles recovered by law officers
Through police effort bicycles stolen weeks ago were recovered and returned to owners. A Dallas bicycle brought in from the bridge on Ashland Creek was found and delivered by Deputy Sheriff Craven. Chief Parker says petty theft is increasing and plans steps to curb roaming youths before Thanksgiving.

Fred Wiltshire a former Independence businessman is dead in London England. George Wiltshire of Oregon Agricultural College and C MacPvth a Wiltshire partner in the local plumbing business learned of his death.
