Mrs George Jones of Elkins plans to attend the State Farmers Union gathering in Moro as a Polk County delegate with President L H McBee of Dallas also slated to attend. Broccoli in the Independence district promises a heavy spring crop after large healthy plants, despite some flooding. Clemens Horst company moves hops to Southern Pacific warehouses with high water not touching stores. Local stock reports note strong butterfat returns amid high butterfat prices and low feed costs, and cows bought by Henry and George Oberson with transactions of 65 and 40 respectively.
The Oregon Milling and Warehouse Company lists prize Peach Hard Wheat Flour at 2.10 per sack guarantee and Pride of Oregon at 1.50 per sack for sale.
Mrs Ellen Roberson and her daughter Mrs DeWitt returned Wednesday from the funeral of Mrs W G Shellenbarger held at the Portland crematorium last Saturday. The death, announced in the Enterprise, shocked relatives and many old friends in Independence.
At a High School Dancing club meeting students and faculty agreed on one dance per month due to the basketball season and other activities. Thanksgiving vacation occurred last Thursday and Friday. M. H. Pengra of the school board visited the school. The boys lost to the Alumni 26 to 6 on November 23. IHL opens its season with Dallas on Saturday, December 3, in Dallas.
The University of Oregon at Eugene will begin June 21, 1922, and end July 29, with crowded classes extending to Saturdays. The University of Portland starts June 19 and ends July 28.
