The Independence Enterprise Plato Contest closes tomorrow at 8 pm with Mrs M Intosh leading after a vote surge. Miss Burton second, Meltoch and Fishback among top contenders. judges to finalize tally and prizes tonight.
The Pythian Lodge held an open meeting Monday evening at their hall drawing about forty members from Salem. Honors went to Hon. Frank Wrightman and Lew Stinson of the Oregon domain who gave addresses. A.C. Moore welcomed the gathering before a well received program and a social banquet to conclude the event.
The Garar The Ladies of the needle Craft of the Presbyterian Church hold their annual bazar tonight December 1. An excellent program with refreshments and a sale of beautiful and useful articles. Admission ten cents. Bring your friends.
Circuit court sits in Dal law with important cases on docket including a horse stealing case from the Krebshop yard last fall. A young man took a Crowley Brothers team to southern Oregon and was jailed until the county sheriff arrived. He has admitted the crime and may plead guilty. Independence old town shows new life with improvements and a new house under construction on Railroad street.
Will visit in California as Mr Craven and wife of Independence traveled to see Mr and Mrs Joseph Craven and sister Miss Lora Craven. They plan to start for Los Angeles next Tuesday and spend a couple of months visiting relatives in Southern California according to the Monmouth Herald.

About 125 teachers and visitors gathered for the Independence Teachers Institute held Saturday. Of them 80 taught in Polk County. others were normal school students and guests. Lectures and music by the Monmouth public school children highlighted the program.
