A posse pursuing two horse thieves near the Callahan ranch twelve miles northwest of Dairy killed one, Dumoac, as he tried to hide behind a tree. The other, Kuhl, escaped. Stolen horses and mules were recovered, and the posse pursues the remaining fugitive.
