Doris Davin of Independence died Sunday after a heart condition. He moved from Nebraska seeking better health and is survived by a widow, daughter, and son. The funeral was at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Salem with burial in the Catholic cemetery. pallbearers included local men from the community.
ENA VISTA residents note Porter will become the new ferry. There is mention of Steel working near the Stamp mill and several locals visiting relatives in Salem and Dallas. Family gatherings at Prather homes and neighbors from Buena Vista and Albany are described along with school attendance and upcoming activities for local youth.
A notice proclaims an exclusive Ford and Fordson repair shop dedication to Ford owners. The shop promises 100 percent efficiency and high quality service reflecting the Ford Motor Company standards.

A Lyceum meeting called by Chairman J. HM urged volunteers to sponsor the four summer Chautauqua events in the city during the last week of May. Few turned out but guarantors showed a bit more enthusiasm. A permanent group was formed with J. A. Collins as chairman, W. J. Clark secretary, Melvin Baldwin treasurer, and TD BE Fletcher, Frank Dickson and A. G. Williams on the executive board. A follow up meeting is set for next Wednesday at the K P Hall to mobilize quix and ensure a successful Chautauqua. Dr. Duganne, Dentist, offices over Independence National Bank.
