Independence Notes and Visitors Highlight Local Life
The Independence area reports visitors from Albany, Dallas, Salem, and Portland while residents attend events, surgeries, court work, and church gatherings. Ed Jordan’s shoe shop is shipped to Portland for remodeling, and Palace cigar stand changes owners. A juryman is drawn, a nurse arrives for a month, and hops expansion progresses at the Wigrich ranch as the Worthingtons plan Portland relocation.
