Frank K. Hubbard a Polk pioneer and longtime Falls City mayor died at his Falls City home on April 6 after a prolonged illness caused by liver absences. Born July 6 1844 in Pike county Illinois, he crossed to Oregon as a child and helped found Falls City. He led the municipal water system and was active in Republican affairs and lodge life. Funeral services were held at Falls City Methodist with Odd Fellows in charge and burial in Falls City cemetery. Survivors include his wife Mina Alderman and siblings in Dallas Silverton Independence Centralia and Spangle. Perry Hubbard attended from Centralia Washington.

Yakima Man Dies in Dallas After Influenza Visit
W. T. Pierce of Yakima Wash died in Dallas on Wednesday while en route home from Utah where he spent months. He stopped in Dallas for a few days with two sons, contracted influenza, and died. His wife and daughter Maude from Yakima arrived for final leave taking. Funeral services were held from Chapman parlors yesterday. He is survived by four sons and two daughters and his widow.

Mrs Edna Grace Suver of Monmouth was awarded costs and other disbursements after a jury verdict in Justice Wood's court at West Salem.
