A Postoffice Department special agent will study establishing the Seward to Iditarod mail route next winter. Judge Finnegan of the Seward Commercial Club, George Drebellis, and others lobbied Washington, urging Postmaster General Burleson to act. Delegate Wickersham assists as information is gathered.
California lawmakers pass the alien land bill by a large majority but Governor Johnson refuses to sign until he receives guidance from Secretary of State Bryan. Bryan travels to Washington to confer with President Wilson and the cabinet after California acts, while Japan protests the move.
Seattle hosts Governor J. F. A. Strong and the First Alaska legislature at a Arctic Club dinner on Friday night. A big time is expected as the city unites to honor the Northerners.
The Senate is expected to report favorably the appointment of Erwin as marshal for Washington May Fourth division of Alas committee on Monday the ninth.
At a recent meeting the Iditarod town council voted to spend up to 150 to gravel main streets with broad support from others. Attorney C E Taylor was authorized to collect all delinquent taxes immediately, with no exceptions and immediate payment required.

Officials report surprising results from Arlington wireless station tests. The Arlington system has communicated with Paris Eiffel Tower station over 3,300 miles by air and held experimental talks with Poldhu England. The Arlington layout features a middle tower 600 feet high and two additional towers at 459 feet.

Street work led by J. D. Barnes produced a solid gravel cover from Slippern mill to Otter street after four days of labor costing about $15. A cable-dumper scheme could extend gravel to central blocks at minimal city expense if successful.

Madrid reports King Alfonso will travel to Paris tonight as the guest of the French government for a three day visit ending May 12. He will stay at the French capital during the stay and engage in formal meetings with officials and events.

Camp Flat No 27 hosted a successful Arctic Brotherhood card party and social night with about 90 attendees from Flat area. The program featured whist prizes, music, recitations, and a late dance, ended at 3 am, highlighting fraternity aims of aid, fellowship and mutual support.
