Ponta, March 19. A Feeneh shipping company faced a suit in the high court over an unruly cargo of metallic sodium aboard the steamer Hardy from Treport. The sodium, inflammable and explosive on contact with water, broke loose in a storm, ignited by water in the cases, causing blazes and a series of explosions. The captain, unaware of sodium’s nature, sprayed a hose, then ordered the cargo tossed overboard, after which the hold caught fire and the crew fled in boats.

Merchant fined for illicit liquor selling at Flat Creek
Last Wednesday morning before Commissioner Albrecht Robert Matheson a creeks merchant pleaded guilty to selling liquor without a license on Flat Creek April 15. He was fined $10 and costs the minimum penalty. The offence led to his arrest on a warrant sworn by Deputy Marshal Tom Howell after information from three witnesses employed by the G.
