Reliance Connects With St Mishael

The steamer Reliance arrived with thirty passengers ten tons of mail and a load of flour after connecting with St Michael at Holy Cross. Weir wedding draws visitors from Flatcreek to town

Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Jackson of Flatcreek visited town last week to attend the Weir wedding. Local shops advertise fare with fried eggs and ham meals at 75 cents and feature Maple and Chocolate Nut Sundaes at the Red Rug Store and Merchants.

Miner Peter Cook Killed by Rock Fall at Hill Top Mine

A sudden rock fall at the Slilltop association head of Flat crushed Peter Cook, a 50-year-old sourdough and partner of Wm Bevins. Roy Moyer witnessed the accident about 9 o'clock as Cook toiled in an open cut bottom. rescuers removed him after a jack lifted the boulder. Funeral services were held at the Smith parlors with Judge Maltby delivering the eulogy.

Tragedy on Kuskokwim Ice Jam Claims Two Prospector Lives

Two well known prospectors Gil McIntyre and Ed St. Clair died last month after their boat hit a slough during an ice jam on the lower Kuskokwim between Crooked River and Bethel. Their bodies were not recovered and reports are incomplete.

All-Summer Mail Service Planned on Fairbanks Trail

The road commission aims to establish an all summer mail service over the Fairbanks Valdez trail. They will test weekly mail by pack animals and repair segments of the trail and build bridges to aid summer travel.

Help For Peter Desmore Follows Fairbanks Example

Friends of Peter Desmore in Fairbanks initiate a subscription to fund his return to home with artificial limbs. They have raised about $200, but need more for his condition after losing both hands and a foot in Yukon blizzard exposure. Fairbanks Quartz II s Setting Better Fast

In Fairbanks district the Chena mill recovered 16 000 from 95 tons of ore from Bed rock creek on June 12. Alaska Citizen reports 1800 ounces of amalgam, expected to yield about 1090 ounces of gold after retorting, worth over 170 dollars per ton. The find would cover development costs on the Rhoads ledge and even pay for the mill installation on order. Meet me at the A B hop, Sat., 24th.

Steamboat Movements On The River Run

The Little Delta arrived from Dikeman Thursday with 30 tons of mixed freight mainly for Brumbaugh Hamilton and Kel logg. The Florence lies tied up under steamboat inspector orders, possibly only briefly. The Edna carried 11 passengers from Ruby City after a stampede, transferred to the Samson 40 miles below Dikeman, and was towed there. The Reliance sailed last night with a few passengers and two empty barges, aiming to meet the Seattle No 3 on the Iditarod.

Fatal shooting over card game at Fairbanks store

In Fairbanks a dispute over a card game in the Imperial cigar store rear room led to Fred Sellers, a wrestler and baker, being shot four times by Boris Rokoceviche a Slavonian woodcutter. Sellers died soon after from a stomach wound. Rokoceviche was seized by authorities after hiding the gun.

Cleanups Progress on Otter and Flat Week

Cleanups on Otter and Flat are estimated at thirty five thousand dollars this week with more expected next week. Six outfits sluicing on Flat as more join the operation daily including Ives and Price on Glen McKinnon and McDonald on 5 b Flat Mahoney and Rich and Angus McKenzie with two earning about nine thousand and twelve thousand six hundred respectively. Deputy Siebe Brings Prisoners for Georgetown Court Term

Deputy Marshal Siebe arrived with prisoners including George Tisdale charged with murder of Joseph Plepin. Tisdale's case stems from a cabin shooting near Georgetown on March 7. Siebe plans a several week stay to cover the district court term.

Three Thousand Tens For Lower Kuskokwim

Reports from Georgetown indicate Northern Commercial plans a large supply stock on the Lower Kuskokwim near Bethel with a possible small store at Crooked River mouth or Georgetown. Movements include Richmond and Gr boarding for Bethel to meet Lavelle Young, then routes via Kusko and Yukon portage. Grace will audit Takotna books then travel to Ophir and Iditarod.

Weir Smith Wedding reception follows nuptials

Joe Allerton Bids On Secord Street

John Allerton submitted the sole bid to cover the Secord Street brush with moss and muck from street edges at six inches depth for 60 cents per foot. A. E. Light, after hearing dirt must be taken from a nearby ditch, declined to enter. The street committee will likely award the contract to Allerton.
