Alports seek rehab after hew testimony by inspectors
The Alport building owners asked to meet with Conservation Community Council, Urban Renewal and Building Department representatives to discuss a rehabilitation plan. Attorneys said they want to keep the building and run it properly despite ongoing code violations and disputed plans. The next hearing is set for Nov. 20 to present a rehab plan.

Allen Alport died suddenly of a heart attack on Tuesday morning October 29 at Chicago Osteopathic hospital. Funeral services are set for Thursday October 31 at the Fourth Chapel. He lived at 5000 Cornell and worked with his brother Louis Alport, with offices at 5237 Harper.

Youth charged with gang recruiting threats
A 17 year old, Gerald Patton, arrested October 17 for recruiting among Kenwood and Kozminski students. Parents of six Kenwood and one Kozminski juveniles signed complaints charging Patton with threatening and intimidating youths to attend gang meetings at St. Ambrose Church. He faces two counts of battery and assault and one of intimidation.

Kenwood High School hit by citywide student boycott
About 25 percent of Kenwood High students were absent on Monday amid citywide boycotts led by militant black students. A Liberation Center operated at nearby St Pauls Church with adults including Mrs Carol Ackerman so Georgia on loan to the Committee for One Society. A police car and fire personnel were stationed at the school as a precaution.
