Fraternity Stab Suspect Bound Over for Grand Jury

An 18 year old Hyde Park youth identified as Drew Bey with a police record was bound over to a grand jury after a Delta Upsilon raid in which University of Chicago student John A. Lloyd was stabbed and robbed. Bey faces possible indictment for assault to commit murder and robbery. Eleven arrests were made in the raid on Friday night April 2 at 5714 Woodlawn. Four juveniles were placed on probation and five others received a June 6 continuance to allow exam completion before testimony.

Plans For High Income Project Include New Design

Plans for a Hyde Park redevelop project outline a one story four bedroom house in the $30 000 bracket to fit into the 42 upper income homes. Architect Harry Weese says revisions to the three original home types will include options such as a second bath fireplaces basements and luxury features. Final drawings expected in about three weeks reflect input from those who viewed the plans and testing reaction to the development.

Officials Plan Park Protest Picnic On Nike Radar Site

Fifth ward residents of Independent Voters of Illinois set a Friday picnic meeting for June 17 at the 55th Street promontory site of the Nike radar control station. Rep. Barratt O’Hara will fly in to head the speakers panel with invited Ald. Leon Despres and Gen Hobart Gay among possible attendees. The group aims to discuss park encroachment by military uses and the lake front hall plan while noting no firm stand on Nike installations or offshore fill.

LCC Seeks Hyde Park Project Developer Cooperation

Chicago Land Clearance officials told 55th Street merchants they aim to find a friendly developer for Hyde Park Project A and to arrange demolition staging for relocation facilities for those who stay during the building program.
