Split meetings prompt opposing motions on Hyde Park schools
Last week two groups met separately to vote on school issues. At St Pauls Church Kenwood Shoe smith PTA opposed rehabbing Hyde Park High displacing students. In a Hyde Park Kenwood Community Conference session a plan for a temporary ninth grade facility and later reconstruction was approved with conditions. The District 14 board later endorsed the committee recommendations for secondary education needs with a 7th and 8th grade center and continued programs. A St Pauls motion urged starting addition construction on the 100 foot lot south of the school before rehab. Dr Curtis Melnick cautioned on uncertain timing and possible eminent domain actions.
