City Council to review 47th Street land split plan

The 47th Street urban renewal sites would be divided between Lake Village Associates and United Dwellings Foundation under a DUR approved compromise. North HR1 and LR1–LR5 go to Lake Village, south HR1 to United Dwellings, with three smaller buildings planned and joint site planning.

Herald announces early holiday deadlines

Early deadlines set for next week's edition due to the Fourth of July. Display ads must be in by 5 p.m. Thursday, want ads by 4 p.m. Friday, and news items by 12 noon Friday. Delivery remains at the usual time.

Hyde Park High graduate earns National Merit scholarship

Hyde Park High School senior Anthony P. Harley 1313 East 55th has won a four year National Merit scholarship to Dartmouth College funded by National Distillers and Chemical Corp. Presented by Joseph Emil the award honored Harley as Hyde Park leaders Dr Donald Blythe the principal and Harley’s parents attended Harley joined the debating team Sigma Epsilon Honor Society and the Great Books Club and won the Harvard Book Prize in 1966 He also played with the Chicago All-City High School Orchestra and Band and toured South America with the All American Youth Honor Band last summer At Dartmouth he plans to study pathology.

Door to door drive boosts Hyde Park Youth Action fund progress

A door to door campaign for Youth Action aims to raise the remaining funds needed by July 1 to hire two full time street workers and part time assistants. Phil Brin and Dr. William Clark co chair the drive serving Hyde Park Kenwood and city wide Youth Action is a merger led program with three advisory committees and a plan to engage street youths in recreation and job training. Contributions can be sent to the Hyde Park Kenwood Community Conference with tax deductible status.
