Hearing on low income housing in Chicago district

Officials from the Chicago Housing Authority and Department of Urban Renewal lead a public hearing at St. Paul Redeemer Church 50th and Dorchester at 8 pm. LaPaglia testifies in Senate hearings on Woodlawn program

Charles LaPaglia of 5222 Kenwood testified at U S Senate hearings on the Woodlawn Organization job training program for gangs. He denied accusations he accompanied Blackstone Rangers to Michigan for guns. LaPaglia, a youth worker at First Presbyterian Church since 1965, previously worked at Hyde Park Neighborhood Club.

Fountain Ceremony to Install Park Sculpture

A new fountain sculpture will be installed at a neighborhood park near Hyde Park Club at 55th and Kimbark during a ceremony at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, June 26. If rain, the event moves to the club at 5480 Kenwood. Carl Dornbusch, architect, will speak. Chicago Children's Choir directed by Christopher Moore will sing. Mrs. George W. Beadle will preside.

Hyde Park fountain project ties art to safety and memory

A Hyde Park fountain, designed by Gary Wojcik and planned as part of a park sculpture program, features ceramic tiles memorializing five local figures. The project, funded by residents and Woods Charitable Fund, includes community contest results and installation ceremonies set for the summer.
