The 57th Street Art Fair features balloons and children with their fathers, plus a performance by the Chicago Children's Choir in red robes. The choir sings to raise funds for travel to Expo 67 after Saturday rehearsals at the First Unitarian Church.
Fifth Ward Alderman Leon Despres sponsors an ordinance to close 54th Place from Greenwood to University for the Lutheran School of Theology. The block group led by the Stouts and the Hyde Park Kenwood Community Conference oppose, arguing access loss and limited parking relief. The school says closure enables off street parking and landscaping for its new building on 55th Street. the Lutherans plan to complete construction by July 1 and demolish one building for a parking lot.
Hyde Park PTA sets a June 13 meeting at 7 30 p m in the school social room to explore What Does The Future Hold For Hyde Park Six Points Of View The panel includes James W Clement moderator and Hyde Park High School seniors Monica Cyprian and Ellery Brown plus Dr Donald I Blyth Principal Rosie Simpson Curtis Hayes Willard J Congreve and R Bruce McPherson from local programs and organizations.
