Congregation Rodrei Ze dek names school center after Harry J. Hoffman
The Board of Trustees of Congregation Rodrei Ze dek announces the new educational facility to be built at 5200 Hyde Park Blvd. and named the Harry J. Hoffman Education Center. Hoffman led the move to Hyde Park in 1949 and established the J. S. Hoffman Memorial Library there. The center will serve nursery through adult education, with completion planned for spring and dedication in the fall.

Hyde Park Kenwood Conference backs second high school plan
Hyde Park Kenwood Community Conference directors endorsed a possible second comprehensive high school in District 14 and urged joint city planning. The panel urged alleviating overcrowding and improving racial balance, linking integration with education quality and urging University of Chicago to aid in a new program of studies including computer training and advanced placement. A March 18 public meeting at St. Pauls Episcopal Church will discuss the report. The newly formed Schools Committee will meet Feb 24 to coordinate volunteer recruitment and seek federal aid for pre school programs.
