Youth and Government delegates begin state convention work
The 20th annual Youth and Government Northern Pre Legislative conference was held Feb 1 at Illinois Institute of Technology. Hyde Park YMCA sent a delegation. Rep Robert Mann spoke on the program and delegates defended bills for Springfield. Hyde Park faces limits this year with 14 delegates 4 press and 2 pages, down from last year.

Hyde Park Head Start Volunteers Support Program
Volunteers at the Hyde Park Neighborhood Club contributed time worth about 7500 dollars in 1968 under a contract with the Chicago Federation of Settlements and Neighborhood Centers. The mixed Head Start Nursery School operates in 39 states with openings for 3 to 5 year olds. Delegates from Hyde Park will attend a Springfield session with a list of participants including Yvonne Aitkins and Paul Brin among others.

Final park sculpture approved in Hyde Park Kenwood area
The Chicago Park District approves the final sculpture in a Hyde Park Kenwood series. Francois Dallegret of New York designed three aluminum shapes for a $10,000 installation at 55th Street between Kenwood and Kimbark. Earlier plan by Yvonne Hobbes failed due to weight and cost concerns after 18 months of expert review.
