Drive impact study ruled unnecessary for Lake Shore rehab
Federal officials say an environmental impact study is not required for the South Lake Shore Drive rehabilitation since the work is a repair, not widening. IDOT officials say the road will remain an arterial street and not become an expressway, with traffic expected to rise by about 3 000 vehicles daily by 1995. The meeting noted potential delays if an EIS were pursued and discussed project details such as lighting and a New Jersey wall along the eastern edge.
